We're Here!!!
THE DRIVE:
Last Saturday, we piled into the car at 6:00 am and drove to Perry, UT. We ended up getting there around 5pm. We were so anxious to see how Avery was going to do in the car for that long, and luckily she did AMAZING. She slept until an hour before we stopped in Boise, threw up right before we ate lunch, but was still happy. Then she fell asleep until about an hour from our stop in Utah, we were so surprised! The second day, she fell asleep after about an hour of driving and then took another nap after lunch, we were all a little tired of being in the car for the last hour, but she never threw a fit, it was great! The last day of driving we only had 4 hours and she stayed up and watched movies until we got here, she was happy the whole time! We ended up passing my Grandpa, Dad and brother (who drove the UHAUL trailer, LOVE THEM!) on the free way, and they got to Omaha soon after we did.
THE PLACE:
We got into Omaha around 12:00pm and drove straight to our new house, we couldn't wait to see it! We couldn't start moving in until 1pm when we got our keys, but the maintenance guy was inside and he let us take a quick peek around. I've been looking at pics of this place for the past couple of months, it was so cool to see what it actually looked like! After we got our keys, about 5 guys from our ward, including our Bishop, showed up to help us unload. I love that even though we're so far from home, we have people in the church who are there, it made us feel so welcome!
RIGHT NOW??
Since day 2, we have been unpacking, painting, replacing light fixtures, faucets, we bought a couch, put together many pieces of furniture, and on and on. We just got done painting both bathrooms and kitchen, and our next projects are the painting the front room and cabinets in the kitchen and replacing the floor in the kitchen. I'll post before and after pics, but it's starting to feel more like home and we can't wait until it's done! I meet with my new baby doctor in 10 days and Scott has orientation next Thursday and Friday and then starts school on Monday. We're trying to figure out how to get around a bigger city, finding things like a grocery store and Costco have been interesting... but it's been fun exploring!
